Welcome to Wendigo... We are a semi-literate Native American folklore roleplay set in modern times where you will play as humans blessed with a spirit animal or cursed with the plight of the demonic creature known as the Wendigo.
SETTING
Wendigo takes place in a small fictional town in Ohio known as Alma. The grounds of this little town are blessed (or cursed) with the ancient magic of the Algonquian tribe. A handful of the humans from this town have been gifted an innate ability to transform into their spirit animal. While some have been gifted with such an incredibly ability, others have been damned and transform into a demonic version of their spirit animal. These are called the Wendigo. Will you be blessed or cursed? You decide.

In the middle of the old small town of Alma is a town square - recently built - where the majority of the small businesses are located. Despite the minuteness of the little town, there is plenty to do in this area. It is lined with intricate street lamps and has sidewalks made of cobblestone and at the center of the square is a beautiful fountain where the townsfolk toss their spare change.
Your standard supermarket with plenty of fresh produce and anything the residents of Alma may need. It is the only supermarket in the town so it is frequently bustling with activity and is open twenty-four hours for the convenience of the townspeople.
Alma Park is a small park with well kept green grass and a small pond at the center. Many people bring their dogs here and enjoy a brisk walk. It is approximately the size of a football field with your typical park benches and a few trees scattered about.
Just around the corner from the town square is a quaint little library with a surprisingly vast selection of books. It is quiet and smells a bit musty but that's only thanks to the collection of hand-me-down books. There is very little space to walk between the towering shelves and a single table at the center of it all.
Many people wonder what was even the point of putting a hotel in such a small town... while the hotel has more vacancy than occupancy at any given time, the small building still serves its purpose in giving a temporary home to those who need it and can afford it.
This is the high school of the small town of Alma where the mascot they are sporting is an Alpaca. It is a one story building that isn't very big and can maybe fit a total of 500 students at a time. The windows are large and its foundation is made of brick.
The suburbs are a recent addition to the town of Alma. It has beautiful, well kept green grass that almost seems synthetic with a few strategically placed trees. Caucus Street houses the more wealthy families. The abodes are mostly two stories with nice driveways and garage attachments.
This street has homes more geared toward the middle class or more average income families. The houses are one story with small driveways and little fenced in backyards. The grass is very well kept here, as well.
A pool open to the community of the suburbs during late spring and throughout summer. It is fairly large and especially a hot spot for the teens to hang out.
Just outside of the town of Alma is a rather large lake known as Lake Manteo, Manteo meaning to snatch.. During the late spring and throughout summertime the lake is frequented by locals yearning for a swim or a little fishing trip. During the winter, it is eerily quiet and a mist often hangs over the large body of liquid.
Just outside the quaint little town of Alma is a set of fairly old and poorly cared for homes. The more unfortunate people of Alma live here. The town mostly chooses not to acknowledge this portion of their land. There's a few stray cats here and there and some yards have old, broken down cars.
Before you venture too deep into the forest, you'll find the Alma Trails. The athletic and/or outdoorsy locals love to frequent these trails for their daily dose of physical activity. You'll see bikers, runners and dog owners alike.
Not too far off from Lake Manteo is what the locals like to call the Sunstones. It is a large clearing with huge, smooth rocks that are always baked by the sun and way too comfortable to relax on. The rocks are surrounded by a soft, dry, pale yellow sand deep enough to bury your toes in and the clearing is surround by trees but is only about fifty feet from the edge of the lake.
If the town of Alma was multiplied by twenty it still wouldn't quite reach the vastness of the forest that surrounds the little Ohio town. There are all kinds of wildlife and unknown occurrences happening in this copious wilderness...
Somewhere in the forest on the outskirts of Alma is an entrance to a labyrinth of caverns known as the Crooked Caverns. Many people who enter the caverns either take days to find their way out or just never do... Be careful venturing into this mysterious and dangerous unknown...
