folklore or for real?
While it cannot be determined where or why exactly the Wendigo has come about, what can be said about it is that for centuries there have always been rumors spread of ghoulish depictions of ravenous spirits said to take on flesh and roam the Earth they were cursed to dwell on forevermore. Those can all be considered theories of the past, and maybe even cultural delusions, even still, the myth of the creature can never be fully explained, unless believed to be witnessed by ones own eyes. To those ignorant of their presence, the word wendigo has become nothing more than thrilling campfire stories, but the people who have come to believe in the supernatural may soon be the ones with the upper hand. Something has awakened beneath the surface of the Earth, an evil has been stirred, and the more corrupt and tumultuous society has become over the years, the closer it has come to breaking through the sediment. It makes itself known through claiming the souls of weak willed men, and cursing their bodies to take on the mark of the beast.
However all is not lost, for with the curse of evil comes a blessing of good; a divine intervention occurred as well, allowing those with enlightened souls to embody their spiritual counterparts, they are made to be protectors of the innocent. Designed to be the opposite of their evil equivalents, they are linked with the soul of their Spirit Animal, granting them a supernatural ability to shape-shift at will. These people can detect the essence of evil, and the more powerful they are, the easier it is for them to locate and thwart the cursed ones. They are made to bring light into the shadows that have overcome the Earth in this new dark age, they are known as the Slayers of the Damned. All people endowed with a connection to their supernatural counterparts are called Spirit Walkers, and they all have been granted an immortal lifespan- they tend to stop the appearance of aging by the time they reach the point of maturity that best suits their Spirit Animal side.
And let’s not forget our underdogs, not all average humans are so foolish, and a small amount know of some of the otherworldly happenings going on throughout the world. These people tend to be frightened out of their minds, just plain paranoid at the knowledge, or there are a select few who choose to take on the task of defeating these demons themselves. Of course, not all are prepared for what they’re signing up for, some meeting their dooms in the seclusion of the shadows. The rest of the world lives on, driving to work, biking to school, walking the streets, everyday going by without a second thought that an impending death, or a saving grace could lie at the hands of their fellow ‘Humans’...
So, with all of these things being uncertain, only one question remains- Will you succumb to the psychosis?
